Message to community about Raptor

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I’m contacting you to inform you that a 3rd party vendor, Raptor, that the Alexander Central School District and many other districts in the region use for checking people in at our main offices,  reported a data breach.   Alexander was not among the districts that Raptor contacted about the breach, because at this time Raptor does not feel we were affected. Our Incident Response Team has reached out to Raptor and asked them to verify that Alexander was not affected.  Alexander does not house Student Data with Raptor,  so no student data is in question.

Raptor has reported to the district, “We have communicated with all Raptor customers. There is no indication at this time that any such data was accessed by third parties beyond the cybersecurity researcher and Raptor Technologies personnel. We have no reason to believe that there has been any misuse of this information.”

Please know that the Alexander Central School District is committed to protecting and securing educational data. Our team has extensive data security and privacy training, and our systems have many controls in place to protect your child's academic records.

The issue is still being investigated by Raptor, so if anything changes, or Raptor reaches out to us with new information,  we will contact you again through ParentSquare. Please contact the Alexander Central School District with any questions regarding this incident and our response.

"Thank you for reaching out to our team.

We have reviewed your Raptor system and have confirmed that you do not use the Raptor Link service or any of the document upload functionality impacted by this vulnerability. We can confirm at this time that your district’s data was not impacted by this vulnerability. "
