The mission of the Alexander Central School District is to challenge students to be confident, contributing learners within a structured, safe, and caring environment.
Dear Alexander families,
What a busy and successful start we’ve had to our school year! Our fall athletes thrived on the field. Our musicians have performed in school concerts, a jazz festival, and are gearing up for our annual musical. Our SmartSchools project was approved by the New York State Education Department and we are starting work to improve our technology infrastructure. Our students are engaged in productive and meaningful learning in their classes. Our faculty and staff are engaged in professional learning and collaboration to continue to move the work of the District forward. We have so much about which to be proud in Alexander!
Framing all of our work in Alexander are the four year goals adopted by our Board of Education. Our goals are aligned with our District mission statement and focus on teaching and learning and our learning environment. Key to all of our goals is a commitment to engagement - for our students, our faculty, our staff, our administrators, our Board, and our community.
What does it mean to be engaged? Engagement requires a focus on collaboration and a commitment to the work - whether that work is on the field, in the classroom, on a committee, or for an individual performance. Engagement is not just going through the motions. Engagement provides the drive to collaborate around common goals and move the work of the District forward. Our goals are based in the notion of engagement. All of our work in the District for the next four years will focus on our goals with an unwavering focus on engagement. Our focus on engagement drives our work at Alexander.
Over the next few weeks, we will put out a call for volunteers from the community to join committees aligned with our goals. The committee structure invites faculty, staff, Board members, administrators, community members, and students to work together around issues important to our District. We are stronger as a District when we collaborate around our goals in order to continue to move Alexander forward.
As always, thank you for the opportunity to serve as your superintendent. Please feel free to contact me to share what you are most proud of about our District or about any concerns you might have. I look forward to our continued collaboration as we engage around our goals.
