Alexander Central School District

Superintendent's Message

Welcome Back!
The start of the school year is always an exciting time for students, faculty, and staff.  The start of the new year is rich with promises and possibilities.  I am confident that 2017-18 will be a wonderful year for Alexander!
Over the summer, our Leadership Team collaborated to create and recommend to the Board of Education four year goals for Alexander.  These goals provide a framework to guide our District as we strive each day to align our work with our mission statement:
The mission of the Alexander Central School District is to challenge students to be confident, contributing learners within a structured, safe and caring environment.
Our mission statement addresses two major categories that form the foundation of our District: teaching and learning and the learning environment.  We have developed goals to address each of those foundational categories aligned with our mission.
The Alexander 2017-2021 Goals:
Teaching and Learning:
All students will read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade.
All students will demonstrate increased levels of proficiency and mastery on standardized measures.
All administrators/faculty/staff will engage in collaborative processes to move the work of the District forward.
All administrators/faculty/staff will focus on creating the conditions for student engagement.
Learning Environment:
Our technology infrastructure will continue to evolve in order to support teaching, learning, and collaboration.
Policy review work will ensure fair and consistent organizational practices.
Fiscally responsible budgets will be developed to support the work of our District.
Our next capital project will be planned and initiated.
Collaborative teams throughout the District will work each year to define activities to support the goals. We will be inviting students, parents, and community members to participate in our committees. These opportunities will be communicated in our newsletter and through our website. Please feel free to contact me via phone or email if you would like to talk about the goals and our focus for the next four years.
On behalf of the Board of Education, the Alexander Leadership Team, our faculty and staff, I wish each of you a new year filled with learning and opportunities for growth.
Dr. Huber
