Drop-Off Traffic Pattern Change

Dear Alexander Families,

This letter contains important updates for our families and visitors to our campus.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHANGES

Elementary Drop-Off

At the Elementary School, only school buses will be able to use the bus loop between 8:00am and 9:00am, and again from 3:00-4:00pm. All students being dropped off in the morning need to be dropped off in the parking lot by the playground. A staff member will be at the door to let them in and greet them as they arrive. In the afternoon, parents picking up students are asked to use the playground parking lot as well.

Elementary School Single Point of Entry

Student safety is our top priority. We are instituting a single point of entry procedure in both of our buildings. Single point of entry is “best practice” in most schools and public buildings. Beginning September 2017, after 9:00am, the only doors that will allow entrance into the Elementary School will be at our Main Entrance. No other doors will be open at any point during the day. Keep this in mind when students are dropped off or picked up from school. ALL students will need to use our Main Entrance to enter the building during the day.

SECONDARY SCHOOL CHANGES

Traffic Pattern Change (MS/HS):

The flow of traffic in the MS/HS Parking lots and roadways is changing.  As you’ve likely experienced at one time or another, morning drop off for MS/HS students can be confusing and sometimes stressful for students and parents. In an effort to make this process run more smoothly, we have made some changes to the traffic pattern.

Beginning September 2017, all MS/HS student drop-offs will take place in the Middle School parking lot. Vehicles will enter the campus parking lot as we always have. Then, all vehicles will go to the right at the stop sign (vehicles will no longer have access to the MS parking lot by going straight ahead). Once you go to the right, all vehicles will enter the MS parking lot in the aisle nearest the football field. You may drop your child off at the MS parking lot door and then proceed to the end of the MS parking lot. Vehicles will exit the MS parking lot by turning right and then heading out the exit lane, as usual. This continuous flow of traffic (with no vehicles crossing paths) should keep traffic moving and promote safer driving practices. A diagram is printed on the back of this notice, for your visual reference.

MSHS Single Point of Entry

Student safety is our top priority. We are instituting a single point of entry procedure in both of our buildings. Single point of entry is “best practice” in most schools and public buildings. Beginning September 2017, the only doors that will allow entrance into the Secondary School will be at our Main Entrance. No other doors will be open at any point during the day. Keep this in mind when students are dropped off or picked up from school. ALL students will need to use our Main Entrance to enter the building during the day.

Our goal with these changes is to ensure that our students are as safe as possible during pick-up and drop off and throughout the day.  As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions. Thank you!
